RESIDENT SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary scales and fringe benefits are commensurate with those of other university
hospitals in the South. Residents are provided professional liability coverage
for activities for or on behalf of the hospital within the scope of the residency
training programs.

Hospitalization insurance coverage is provided for residents without charge
and is effective on the date of employment. Two-party coverage and family plan
hospitalization is available. Group life insurance is available
at a reduced rate. Accident, catastrophic illness, cancer care, intensive care,
dental, vision and disability insurance are also available. Residents participate
in the State of Mississippi Optional Retirement Program. This Optional Retirement
Program involves residents depositing 7.25% of their gross salaries into an
individually controlled, tax deferred retirement plan. The State of Mississippi
makes a matching 7.25% contribution. Residents may choose from a variety of
investment portfolios offered by several vendors. A special tax deferred annuity
plan is available through the Comptroller’s office.
Parking for residents is free.
